This Ex-M Best Buy Series Split AC is utilized by our client, BP Oman.
To ensure safety, each of our explosion proof air conditioners is modified to meet ATEX standards and is supplied with an ATEX certificate and marking. These certifications confirm compliance with the ATEX directive, following harmonized standards EN 60079-0, EN 60079-15, and EN 60079-11.
ATEX Marking and Geographical Acceptance
ATEX certification for Zone 2 is marked as 3G for gas explosive atmospheres, and Zone 22 as 3D for dust explosive atmospheres. ATEX Zone 2 also closely correlates to NEC Class 1, Division 2 standards. ATEX certification is accepted across Europe, the Middle East, Africa (with an additional unit certificate required in South Africa), and the Far East. Some countries may require additional certifications based on local regulations. For more on ATEX zones and equipment requirements, visit our blog.
Do I Need Both an Explosion Proof Indoor and Outdoor A/C Unit?
Depending on your hazardous area requirements, you may not need ATEX certification for both the indoor and outdoor units. With piping options up to 85 meters, we can often position the outdoor unit safely outside the hazardous zone—or relocate the indoor unit if needed. This flexibility can reduce costs, as only one unit may require ATEX certification. Our sales engineers will gladly look at your hazardous area zoning map.
| Set Type | kW | BTU/h | Additional Information |
|---|---|---|---|
| Multi Split AC | 1.5 – 14 | 5,100 – 47,700 | 2-8 indoor units per outdoor unit |
| Single Split AC | 2.5 – 25 | 8,530 – 85,300 | |
| Window AC | 2.8 – 3.7 | 9,550 – 12,600 | Nominal chilling power of 2.8 – 3.7 |
Did you know that using an air conditioner for heating purposes safes a substantial amount of energy compared to using an electrical industrial heater? A 2 kW air conditioner releases the same heat as an 7.5 kW electrical heater.

What is the price of an explosion proof air conditioner unit?
What does an explosion proof AC unit cost? The price of an ATEX certified air conditioner depends on the following factors:
- The classification of the hazardous area.
- Possibility of placing a non-Atex unit outside of the ATEX zone.
- The preferred brand and model.
- Zone 22 (Dust) is usually more costly than Zone 2 (Gas).
- The cooling and heating capacities.
- Bespoke solutions vs. standard units.
